Only a select few benefit from the ‘system,’ while others suffer from hunger despite paying GST: Rahul Gandhi

By

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized the BJP-led Centre on February 13, highlighting that only a select few were benefiting from the “system” in the country, while the majority were burdened with taxes and struggling with hunger. Addressing a gathering at Ramgarh Chowk in Udaipur, Chhattisgarh,

as part of his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, he pointed out that those who raise their voices against injustice face action from agencies like the Enforcement Directorate, CBI, and Income Tax Department. Gandhi emphasized that ongoing violence and hatred stem from systemic injustice, which has become ingrained in society. He urged people to question their daily returns from the country’s resources, alleging that the system, l

ed by the Prime Minister, is neglecting the majority population, including backward classes, Dalits, tribals, and the poor. Gandhi stressed that while a select few benefit, the rest suffer from hunger and pay GST. He integrated the concept of justice (‘Nyay’) into his yatra to address this disparity.

Gandhi illustrated the plight of common people by describing a scenario where a person’s wallet is stolen in a market, drawing parallels between such incidents and economic policies like GST and demonetization. He warned that dissenting voices, particularly from small business owners, are met with intimidation from investigative agencies like the CBI, IT, and ED.
